It’s a great book and very well written. It’s very dense, and I found myself rereading a few parts. That’s interesting right? While taking you from the early ‘middleages’ to the 20th century, therefore this book skips around a lot but it highlights the main influential periods of Parisian history. Certainly, oK, maybe Paris beats NY. Generally, nothing beats NY, and this book by Russell Shorto explores the city’s founding. It’s an inspirational book and one that really affected me when I was planning my trip. It’s a well from saving to planning to life on the road, so that’s a must for newbies.
